Mechanical Procurement Engineer

Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced Procurement Mechanical Engineer to support procurement and vendor technical evaluation of mechanical and process equipment for a large-scale Oil Processing Facility (OPF) project in Iraq.This role will focus on ensuring the technical compliance, quality, and timely delivery of mechanical packages sourced from India and China.

Key Responsibilities:Prepare and review RFQs (Requiest for Quotation) as per the material/equipment requisitions, datasheets, and specifications for rotating and static equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, valves).Review vendor documents and proposals for compliance with client requirements and project standards.Participate in vendor prequalification, bid evaluations, and clarification meetings.Liaise with suppliers (globally) of mechanical equipment.Manage procurement process, from creating purchase orders to tracking shipments and ensuring on-time delivery.Coordinate engineering change with India Engineering office.Liaise with suppliers to identify and resolve potential delays in fabrication, inspection, or shipping.Coordinate and conduct quality inspections, FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests), and witness tests as per project requirements.Ensure material/equipment meets is designed and manufactured in accordance with Project requirements, API, ASME, ASTM, ISO, and Oil & Gas standards.Support inspection and FAT activities to ensure compliance with quality and performance requirements.Work closely with procurement, logistics, and project management teams to meet project delivery targets.Qualification Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 7 years' experience in procurement/technical evaluation of process equipment for Oil & Gas facilities.Proven expertise in rotating and static process equipment packages.Familiarity with EPC project execution and procurement practices.Strong English skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to liaise with global suppliers.Ability to travel and work with suppliers globally, including short-mid-long term shop visits and expediting stays as/if required.Proven ability to use Microsoft Office tools effectively in a professional environment.
